PM Modi Claims Kerala Tilting Towards NDA, Launches Fresh Attack On LDF And UDF

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that Kerala is on the verge of a significant political transformation while addressing a major BJP gathering at Kotta Maidanam in Palakkad ahead of the Assembly elections.

The Prime Minister began his visit by offering prayers at the revered Kalpathy Temple. He noted that increasing backing from young people and women reflects a changing political mood in favour of the NDA.

“This change is driven by the blessings of the people of Kerala,” he said, while also paying tribute to BJP workers who lost their lives in political violence.

Describing Palakkad as the “gateway to Kerala’s natural beauty”, PM Narendra Modi highlighted the region’s cultural richness and talent.

He also honoured noted social reformers, including Sree Narayana Guru, Chattampi Swamikal, Mannath Padmanabhan, Ayyankali, and Kuriakose Elias Chavara, recognising their contributions to Kerala’s society.

PM Modi alleged that Kerala is grappling with unemployment and weak economic management. He claimed that over the past decade, the state government has not established sufficient industries to generate employment opportunities.

Targeting both the Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front, he accused them of prolonged misgovernance. He also alleged that they engage in ‘vote-bank politics’.

Questions Over Rising Debt

“Kerala today is burdened with a debt exceeding Rs 5 lakh crore. The question is — where has this money gone?” the Prime Minister asked, alleging financial mismanagement and corruption by successive governments.

Referring to the region’s political past, PM Modi noted that Palakkad had been represented by Left and Congress leaders for decades but had not witnessed substantial development. He asserted that visible progress began only after the BJP assumed power at the Centre.

Projecting confidence, he said that the NDA is well-positioned in the electoral contest. He added that it aims to form the next government in Kerala.

“We (BJP) are committed to building a developed Kerala. This is PM Modi’s guarantee,” he stated.

In a pointed observation, PM Narendra Modi said both alliances accuse each other of being aligned with the BJP. He added that their shared focus on criticising the BJP indicates their concern.

He added that an NDA government would investigate alleged corruption involving both fronts and reiterated his central message of transformation.

“What has not changed so far will now change — Kerala will grow,” he said, underlining his vision for the state’s future.
