PM Modi Celebrates India-Italy Friendship With ‘Melodi’ Selfie By PM Meloni

Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored the enduring friendship between India and Italy during his visit to Apulia, Italy, marking his first overseas trip since assuming office for the third consecutive term.

He further distinguished the occasion by participating in the G7 Summit, during which he and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had bilateral discussions that yielded significant advancements in their strategic partnership.

PM Meloni punctuated the meeting, held on the sidelines of the summit, by sharing a memorable selfie video on social media, capturing both leaders engaged in warm interaction.

Prime Minister Modi reciprocated the gesture, expressing his sentiments with a resounding “Long live India-Italy friendship!” on his official social media platforms.

Strengthening India-Italy Strategic Partnership: Highlights & Commitments

The dialogue between the two leaders focused on bolstering ties across multiple domains, including trade, defense, and technology.

PM Modi commended PM Meloni for her pivotal role in enhancing bilateral relations, citing her previous visits to India as instrumental in deepening cooperation.

Reflecting on these developments, PM Modi affirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration in crucial sectors such as clean energy, manufacturing, and telecommunications.

A highlight of their discussions was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Industrial Property Rights, underscoring mutual interests in patents, designs, and trademarks.

This framework aims to foster innovation and resilience within supply chains, reflecting shared aspirations for economic growth and technological advancement.

Furthermore, both leaders acknowledged the growing importance of defense and security cooperation, with anticipation building around the upcoming visit of the Italian aircraft carrier ITS Cavour and training ship ITS Vespucci to India later this year.

They also emphasized joint efforts under the Indo-Pacific Ocean Initiative, underscoring a unified stance on regional stability and economic prosperity.

In his departure statement, PM Modi expressed gratitude for Italy’s hospitality and highlighted the successful conclusion of the G7 Outreach Summit.

He reiterated India’s commitment to enhancing global partnerships, including initiatives like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor.

The meeting between Prime Ministers Modi and Meloni reaffirmed the robustness of the India-Italy strategic partnership, charting a path towards deeper engagement and mutual prosperity in an evolving global landscape.
