Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Guru Ravidas’s teachings continue to inspire people to dedicate themselves to service. He addressed devotees at Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Punjab, commemorating the saint’s 649th birth anniversary.
The Prime Minister praised the Dera’s ongoing initiatives in education and healthcare, calling their contributions highly commendable. He noted that under the leadership of Sant Niranjan Das-ji Maharaj, Guru Ravidas’s ideals have spread to several countries around the world.
PM Modi said, “Today, I am also happy about one more thing. Just a little while ago, the naming of Adampur airport in the name of Guru Ravidas-ji took place. Now, the Adampur airport will be known as Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj Ji Airport. In addition, the new terminal building of the Halwara airport has been inaugurated.
“I extend my best wishes to all fellow citizens for these endeavours. Guru Ravidas-ji Maharaj-ji spoke about equality and equal opportunities in society,” he added.
He paid homage to Punjab, marking Magh Purnima and Guru Ravidas Jayanti as sacred occasions. Modi recalled his time in Kashi (Varanasi), where the saint’s teachings deeply influenced him and continue to inspire millions.
The Prime Minister reflected on a previous visit to Dera Sachkhand on his birthday, describing it as a personally significant moment. He added that the path of service exemplified by Guru Ravidas provides him with renewed motivation and energy.
He also mentioned that a temple and museum dedicated to Guru Ravidas are under construction in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, aiming to strengthen community foundations and cultural preservation.
Speaking on the Union Budget, Modi said it aims to empower villages, farmers, youth, and women. He also noted that Punjab’s skilled workforce and thriving textile sector would benefit from access to larger domestic and global markets.
“The path of service that Sant Ravidas has shown us has given me inspiration and more energy. I express my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your affection,” PM Modi noted.
Alongside his Dera visit, Modi virtually inaugurated the terminal at Halwara Airport, enhancing air connectivity for Ludhiana and surrounding industrial and agricultural regions, while also highlighting the strategic importance of its Indian Air Force station.
