Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday described the newly constructed ‘Seva Teerth’, the new Prime Minister’s Office in New Delhi, as a centre that will continuously advance the sacred duty-yajna of national service.
He emphasised that the building would serve as a hub of citizen empowerment rather than a display of power.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said he held the first meeting of the Union Cabinet at Seva Teerth on the auspicious occasion of Yugabda 5127, Vikram Samvat 2082, Phalguna Shukla Ashtami.
Calling the occasion historic, PM Modi stated that the Cabinet took several unprecedented decisions in the interest of the country.
He added that Seva Teerth, built on the foundation of Swadeshi thinking, a modern outlook and the immense potential of 140 crore Indians, would continuously promote the spirit of national service.
The Prime Minister described the structure as a symbol of New India’s reconstruction.
He recalled that after Independence, successive governments functioned from the Prime Minister’s Office in South Block, balancing legacy with nation-building. PM Modi said Seva Teerth reflects an India rooted in tradition, modern in outlook and limitless in potential.
He noted that the site once housed temporary barracks during the British era, and said establishing a key governance institution there symbolises New India’s transformation from colonial rule to sovereign confidence.
The Prime Minister added that constitutional values will guide the work culture at Seva Teerth, with governance centred on dignity, equality and justice for every citizen.
The Cabinet resolved that all decisions taken there would be inspired by ‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’.
PM Modi affirmed that the government will continue focusing on easing the lives of the poorest while strengthening a transparent, sensitive and accountable governance model.
