PM Modi Calls For Unity, Dialogue In Rajya Sabha On West Asia Conflict

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday emphasised that amid the escalating West Asia conflict, the Indian Parliament must project a unified message of peace and dialogue to the global community.

Addressing the Rajya Sabha, he underlined India’s commitment to resolving the crisis through sustained diplomatic engagement.

The Prime Minister noted that the conflict, continuing for over three years, has triggered a severe global energy disruption.

PM Modi stated that India faces significant concerns as key trade routes remain affected, impacting supplies of essential commodities such as petrol, diesel, gas, and fertilisers.

The Prime Minister highlighted that nearly one crore Indians reside and work in Gulf nations, making their safety a priority. He also pointed to Indian crew members stranded aboard vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the situation as deeply concerning.

PM Modi informed the House that he has conducted two rounds of discussions with leaders of several West Asian countries since the conflict began.

The Prime Minister said India remains in continuous communication with Gulf nations, as well as Iran, Israel, and the United States, to facilitate de-escalation. He stressed that reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring the safety of commercial shipping are critical.

PM Modi firmly stated that attacks on merchant vessels and disruptions to maritime routes are unacceptable.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s condemnation of strikes on civilians, infrastructure, and energy facilities.

PM Modi affirmed that the government is actively working through diplomatic channels to ensure the safe return of Indian ships and safeguard lives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded by asserting that any threat to human life undermines global interests, and India will persist in urging all parties to pursue an immediate and peaceful resolution.
