PM Modi Birthday: Amit Shah Inaugurates Vadnagar-Varanasi Bike Yatra

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday inaugurated the ‘Vadnagar to Varanasi’ bike yatra from Vadnagar in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthplace.

The event formed part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, which will run from September 17 to October 17 to mark PM Modi’s 76th birthday and 25 years in public life.

Organisers launched a simultaneous ‘Varanasi to Vadnagar’ ride from PM Modi’s parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh.

Shah said the twin journeys would link PM Modi’s birthplace with his ‘karmabhoomi’ and take the message of his public work to people living along the routes.

“The Vadnagar leg will pass through seven states. Around 300 bikers would leave Vadnagar, while another 300 would travel from Varanasi, taking the total number of participants in the two groups to 600. The riders will cover villages along the route and highlight PM Modi’s 25 years of public service,” he said.

The Home Minister said the Vadnagar group would start from the Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple. It would then travel towards the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi.

The organisers have planned the two routes to cover nearly 40,000 km across 10 states, 193 districts and 1,159 villages.

The BJP has scheduled the twin journeys to conclude on October 7. The date marks PM Modi’s completion of 25 years since he first became Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001.

The wider Seva Sankalp Abhiyan will feature service activities, public programmes and outreach initiatives during the month-long campaign.

Shah said the bike campaign would take PM Modi’s work beyond urban centres and connect with people in villages. He said the initiative would introduce younger generations to PM Modi’s political journey.

The bike rally followed several programmes in Vadnagar, including a Maha Aarti at Sharmishtha Lake. These were followed by a foot march and a cleanliness drive.

Shah visited the Hatkeshwar Mahadev Temple and offered prayers before wishing PM Modi ‘a long and healthy life’.

BJP units across the country are conducting public-service and outreach programmes as part of the month-long campaign.
