Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised 19-year-old Vedamurti Devavrat Mahesh Rekhe, who accomplished the remarkable feat of reciting 2,000 mantras and Vedic verses in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
In a message shared on X, PM Modi expressed immense pride in the young scholar, stating that his achievement would be remembered for generations.
PM Modi highlighted the significance of Devavrat’s uninterrupted completion of the Dandakrama Parayanam, a rigorous spiritual practice involving 2,000 mantras from the Shukla Yajurveda’s Madhyandini branch.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister described his flawless recitation as a testament to the depth of India’s ancient knowledge systems and the enduring strength of the Guru Parampara.
PM Modi praised the teenager’s dedication, discipline and spiritual commitment. He said that every person who cherishes Indian culture feels proud of Devavrat’s achievement.
Calling the feat an extraordinary contribution, PM Modi also added that the young scholar embodies the ‘finest of our Guru Parampara’, representing the values of devotion, perseverance and sacred learning.
As the Member of Parliament from Kashi, PM Modi expressed personal joy that such a profound accomplishment took place in Varanasi, one of India’s most sacred spiritual centres.
He offered his respects to the young scholar’s family, as well as the saints, seers, scholars and organisations across the country who supported him throughout the 50-day recitation.
On Monday, PM Modi extended greetings to citizens on the auspicious occasion of Gita Jayanti.
In his message on X, he emphasised the enduring relevance of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, describing it as a divine scripture filled with timeless teachings on duty, virtue and selfless action.
He said that its verses continue to inspire generations in India’s spiritual, social and family life. PM Modi concluded his message with ‘Jai Shri Krishna!’, honouring the scripture’s sacred legacy.
On Tuesday, PM Modi also extended birthday wishes to BJP National President JP Nadda.
Praising Nadda’s humility, organisational skills and commitment to good governance, PM Modi acknowledged his significant role in strengthening the party.
He also highlighted Nadda’s contributions to improving India’s health infrastructure and advancements in the chemicals and fertilisers sector. PM Modi wished him a long and healthy life.
