Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of those who died in the Lucknow building collapse. He also pledged Rs 50,000 for those injured in the tragic incident.
Expressing his condolences, PM Modi called the incident “saddening” and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. “The loss of lives in the Lucknow building collapse is heartbreaking. Prayers for the bereaved families and quick recovery for the injured,” the Prime Minister’s Office posted on X.
The three-storey building, located in Transport Nagar, collapsed on Saturday evening, killing eight people. The structure housed a motor workshop, godowns, and a medical warehouse.

Police believe that ongoing construction work may have triggered the collapse, as the building was constructed only four years ago. Most victims were working on the ground floor when the incident occurred around 4:45 p.m.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered district officials to speed up relief operations. He ensured that all injured received prompt medical attention. “The CM has directed SDRF and NDRF teams to reach the site and expedite relief efforts,” his office stated on X.
Rescue teams continue to search through the debris, while authorities investigate the cause of the collapse.
