Former BJP MP Parvesh Verma, contesting from the New Delhi constituency in the upcoming Assembly elections, declared net assets worth Rs 90 crore. Verma filed his nomination on Wednesday and provided detailed financial disclosures in his affidavit.
He reported movable assets worth Rs 77.89 crore and immovable assets valued at Rs 12.19 crore. His wife owns movable assets of Rs 17.53 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 6.91 crore.
Verma, an MBA graduate from the Fore School of Management, listed business and social work as his main income sources. His wife earns from private service and social work.
Verma disclosed a cash balance of Rs 2.2 lakh and ownership of three cars—a Toyota Fortuner worth Rs 9 lakh, a Toyota Innova valued at Rs 36 lakh, and an XUV priced at Rs 11.77 lakh.
He owns 200 grams of gold worth Rs 8.25 lakh, while his wife holds 1.11 kg of gold valued at Rs 45.75 lakh. His two daughters each own 300 grams of gold worth Rs 12.35 lakh, and his son possesses 150 grams of gold valued at Rs 6.17 lakh.
Verma began his day with prayers at the Gauri Shankar temple before filing his nomination. He later led a roadshow in New Delhi, drawing a large crowd. His wife and two daughters joined him during the event. BJP’s New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj also participated.
The BJP leader faces a defamation case filed by former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia. The case involves allegations of corruption in Delhi schools, among other issues.
Verma will contest against AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal and Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit in the New Delhi constituency. Delhi will vote in a single-phase election on February 5, with results announced on February 8.
