The Supreme Court granted a stay on Rahul Gandhi’s conviction in the “Modi surname” case, prompting the Lok Sabha Secretariat to publish a notification to reinstate his MP status.
With his disqualification overturned, Congress is likely to choose Mr. Gandhi as the primary speaker for the opposition during Tuesday’s discussion on the no-trust motion. The no-trust resolution will be discussed in the Lok Sabha for 12 hours, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to respond to the debate on Thursday.
