The four-week session will comprise 19 sittings. Political realignments could reshape Parliament’s composition during the session.
Internal divisions within the Trinamool Congress and tensions between the DMK and Congress may shift the political balance.
The exit of MPs from the Uddhav Sena could further alter the strength of parties in Parliament.
The ruling NDA expects its tally to rise, while the Opposition INDIA bloc could witness a decline.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will decide on the proposed merger of 20 rebel Trinamool Congress MPs with the NCPI. He will also rule on the merger of six Uddhav Sena MPs with Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena.
Following Congress’s alliance with the TVK in Tamil Nadu, the DMK has requested separate seating arrangements for its MPs in the Lok Sabha.
The government is expected to prioritise the 131st Constitution Amendment Bill on women’s reservation and delimitation. It may also introduce the 130th Constitution Amendment Bill to remove top elected leaders after 30 days of judicial custody in serious criminal cases.
The Centre may also table the One Nation, One Election Bill, FCRA Bill, and Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan Bill. It may also introduce the Anti-Doping Bill and legislation replacing the ordinance, expanding the strength of the Supreme Court judges.
The government may further present measures covering the Code on Wages Central Rules, corporate law, and the Securities Market Code.
