Over 10,000 People Join Kashmir ‘Tiranga’ Rally

In a grand show of patriotism, more than 10,000 people participated in a massive ‘Tiranga’ rally held today in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. The event, which aimed to celebrate India’s Independence Day, was led by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and showcased a significant community effort to honor the nation.

The rally commenced from the picturesque Botanical Garden, situated by the serene banks of Dal Lake. Participants marched enthusiastically towards the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC). From there, they began their return journey, heading back to the Botanical Garden.

Signature Campaign will take place after ‘Tiranga’ rally

Following the rally, a vibrant canvas signature campaign is set to take place at the Botanical Garden. This will be followed by a cultural programme featuring patriotic songs and various events designed to commemorate India’s independence. These activities are part of the broader ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign launched by the government. This initiative encourages citizens to display the national flag at their homes, fostering a sense of national pride and unity.

All government buildings are now mandated to hoist the national flag on August 15. This policy aims to send a powerful message of national unity and integrity from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.

Additionally, the J&K Reorganisation Act 2019, which followed the abrogation of Article 370, extended all central laws, rights, privileges, duties, and obligations to Jammu and Kashmir. It also led to the repeal of several regressive laws, including those restricting inheritance rights for daughters and limiting land ownership and job opportunities based on residency. Through these changes, the Act sought to ensure greater equality and integration within the region.
