Bringing honour to India the latest Time Higher Education Impact Ranking integrates over 100 Indian universities. Phil Baty, the Chief Global Affairs officer at Time Higher Education appreciated India’s jump to the milestone. Bati also credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the growth of India on the ranking.
Lauding India’s growth, Phil Baty shared a post on platform X. Mentioning the increase in the number of Indian universities from just 13 in 2019 to over 100 in 2024, Baty said that PM Modi has spearheaded the remarkable success of internationalization.
He wrote, “India is the world’s number one best-represented nation in the @timeshighered Impact Rankings 2024. Over 100 universities are ranked, up from just 13 in 2019, thanks to the remarkably successful internationalisation drive spearheaded by @narendramodi.”
Times Higher Education Impact Ranking have included 2152 universities from across 125 in its 2024 edition. India has registered the highest growth in the last 5 years from only 13 institutions in 2019. The country with the most participation is India with 105 institutions.
To decide the ranking of institutions, the Times assess the universities across multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These institutions stand out in individual areas but they also demonstrate comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development.
The assessment process includes the passion to address the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships.
THE produced the overall Impact Ranking for 2024 by evaluating 2,152 universities across 125 countries and regions. For the third year running, Western Sydney University in Australia is at the top of the ranking. In joint second place are the Universities of Manchester in the UK and Tasmania in Australia.
96 institutions make up the largest representation of India in the overall table.
