He wrote, “India is the world’s number one best-represented nation in the @timeshighered Impact Rankings 2024. Over 100 universities are ranked, up from just 13 in 2019, thanks to the remarkably successful internationalisation drive spearheaded by @narendramodi.”

To decide the ranking of institutions, the Times assess the universities across multiple United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These institutions stand out in individual areas but they also demonstrate comprehensive excellence in contributing to global sustainable development.

The assessment process includes the passion to address the world’s most pressing challenges, including environmental sustainability, social inclusion, economic growth and partnerships.

THE produced the overall Impact Ranking for 2024 by evaluating 2,152 universities across 125 countries and regions. For the third year running, Western Sydney University in Australia is at the top of the ranking. In joint second place are the Universities of Manchester in the UK and Tasmania in Australia.
