Opium Worth ₹40 Crore Seized, In An Interstate Drug Cartel Busted In Delhi Two Arrested

Officials in New Delhi claimed that the special cell of the northern range had disrupted an interstate narcotics cartel operating in the Delhi-National Capital Region with connections to Manipur and Myanmar with the arrest of two senior members.

Over 56 kilograms of opium, valued at over $40 million on the international market, was found during the raids, according to the special cell’s sleuths.
Raj Kumar, 38, and Paramjeet Singh, 53, both Jammu residents, have been named as the suspects.

In addition, a truck, numerous mobile phones, and SIM cards used in drug trafficking operations have also been retrieved from them, according to officials.
Investigators from the Northern Range, Special Cell received information from suppliers in Manipur and Assam that an interstate drug cartel operates in the states of Manipur, Assam, Bihar, West Bengal, Delhi/NCR, etc., and other regions of the nation.

Manipur-based vendors

The investigation also revealed that the Manipur-based vendors get their raw materials from the mountainous regions near the countries of Manipur and Myanmar, according to officials.
On July 20, the special cell learned that the accused were involved in drug trafficking at Nirmal’s direction, an Assamese citizen who lives in Bokajan.

Both of the suspects were captured at the location mentioned above after a raid was performed.

According to the officials, 5.195 kg of opium was found in the custody of the apprehended culprit Paramjeet Singh, while 50.860 kg of opium was found in their vehicle.
Following this, a case was filed at the Special Cell police station against the accused people under the pertinent sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). The official declared that “an investigation has been launched into the situation.”

Accused of dealing for the last two years

Both of the accused admitted throughout the investigation that they were part of an interstate drug ring and had been engaged in drug trafficking for the previous two years.

A member of a low-income household, Paramjeet completed his education by the ninth grade. He has a daughter and is married. In Jammu, he once worked as a driver.
Following his encounter with Nirmal, he made repeated trips to the North-Eastern states to bring consignments of opium and deliver it to Nirmal’s connections in accordance with his instructions.

An uneducated man named Raj Kumar has a brother and a sister. He is single and from a low-income family.
He began working with Paramjeet Singh and traveled in his vehicle with him as an assistant. Officials stated that he frequently journeyed to the Northeast to bring opium shipments.
