One Tree, One Promise: Lucknow Residents Join ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’

A large-scale plantation drive took place at Emaar Gomti Greens in Lucknow under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, following an appeal by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The Emaar Gomti Greens Resident Welfare Society (RWA) conducted the programme with support from the Forest Department as part of efforts to encourage public participation in environmental conservation.

Residents enthusiastically took part in the drive by planting saplings of various species and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the environment, increasing green cover and ensuring a cleaner and healthier ecosystem for future generations.

The plantation drive, however, coincided with the launch of Uttar Pradesh’s statewide plantation campaign, under which the state has set a target of planting 35 crore saplings in a single day, making it one of the largest afforestation initiatives in the state’s history.

As part of the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the statewide drive in Gorakhpur by planting Neem, Peepal and Banyan saplings near the Bhagwanpur Toll Plaza on the Gorakhpur Link Expressway.

The UP CM later planted a Maulsari sapling near the Gorakhnath Temple and described the plantation campaign as a collective expression of gratitude towards Mother Earth while highlighting the state’s efforts to expand forest cover alongside infrastructure development.
