On Camera: 12-Year-Old Girl Raped And Bleeding Seeks Help, Faces Heartbreaking Rejection

A 12-year-old girl, partially unclothed and bleeding after a rape, sought help from people door to door, but they either ignored her or turned her away. This disturbing incident, captured by a CCTV camera on Badnagar road near Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh, sadly reflects the desensitization to violence against women and minors in society.

Eventually, the girl reached an ashram, where a priest suspected sexual violence, covered her with a towel, and rushed her to the district hospital. Medical examinations confirmed the rape, leading to her transfer to Indore due to the severity of her injuries. The police personnel stepped in to donate blood, and her condition is now stable.

Authorities registered a rape case against unknown perpetrators and invoked the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Ujjain’s police chief, Sachin Sharma, announced the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to swiftly identify and apprehend the culprits. He urged the public to inform the police if they have any relevant information.

Regarding the exact location of the crime, it is currently under investigation. The girl couldn’t provide her name or address clearly, but her accent suggests she may be from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

This distressing incident once again highlights the alarming prevalence of violence against women in Madhya Pradesh. Between 2019 and 2021, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra reported the highest number of cases of women and girls disappearing. Additionally, in 2021, Madhya Pradesh reported the highest number of rape cases in the country, with 6,462 incidents, over 50% of which involved minors. This translates to an alarming average of 18 rapes per day in the state.
