The Odisha Assembly witnessed another day of ruckus as Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling demanded the arrest of BJD President and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik for alleged indiscipline during Governor Raghubar Das’ address on Monday. Mahaling accused Patnaik of breaching House rules, sparking a heated debate.
The opposition BJD retaliated, with leader Arun Kumar Sahoo stating that Mahaling’s remarks reveal the BJP’s inexperience in governance. Sahoo emphasized that arrests are unprecedented in the history of Vidhan Sabha proceedings.

The chaos continued as Speaker Surama Padhy adjourned the House until Wednesday, following unrelenting protests by opposition BJD and Congress MLAs over the alleged assault on an assistant section officer by the Governor’s son. The opposition demanded action against the Governor’s son, engaging in slogans and demonstrations in the Well of the House.
The ongoing turmoil in the Odisha Assembly highlights the deepening rift between the ruling party and the opposition, with no clear resolution in sight.
