Noida Fire: Two Dead After Blaze Engulfs Five-Storey Building In Mamura

Two people died after a massive fire engulfed a five-storey residential building in Mamura village under Noida’s Phase 3 police station area on Wednesday.

Authorities safely evacuated more than 100 occupants, while police took the building owner and leaseholder into custody over alleged negligence.

Officials said a man and a woman suffered critical injuries during the incident. Ambulances rushed them to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared both dead.

According to the preliminary investigation, the blaze started after an electric scooter being charged emitted a spark.

The fire quickly spread to nearby petrol-powered vehicles before engulfing large sections of the building.

Police and Fire Department teams reached the scene immediately after receiving the emergency call. Firefighters rescued residents trapped inside the smoke-filled building before bringing the fire under control.

Eyewitnesses said thick smoke caused severe suffocation among residents.

Arnab, a resident, said the scooter caught fire in the basement parking area after an apparent short circuit. He added that the flames rapidly spread to nearby vehicles and filled the building with dense smoke.

Arnab also said that residents and nearby labourers joined the rescue effort, helping people on the upper floors descend safely via the stairways. He claimed that more than 150 people escaped safely while firefighters continued to battle the blaze.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Shailendra Kumar Singh confirmed that police have registered a case against the building owner and leaseholder under relevant legal provisions for alleged negligence. Both have been taken into custody as investigators continue to examine the incident.

Authorities are conducting a detailed investigation, and further information is awaited.
