Nitish Kumar claims “nothing happening” in the INDIA bloc, while the BJP calls him “no visionary.”

Patna: When he said on Thursday that the Congress was more focused on the polls than the alliance, Bihar Chief Minister Niitish Kumar gave the BJP additional fodder to target the INDIA bloc. Kumar caused a stir in Patna when he asserted that “nothing much” was occurring in the coalition, a grouping of 28 parties established to challenge the BJP’s juggernaut in the general elections of 2024.

“We had conversations with all the stakeholders, pleading with them to come together and defend the nation against those attempting to change its past. Meetings were arranged for this, both in Patna and elsewhere. The India Alliance was established, but not much has happened since. Five states have assembly elections. Those are of more interest to the Congress party. Although we were all collaborating to advance the Congress party, they are currently unconcerned with all of this. Right now, they are preoccupied with the five-state election. Thus, they would personally call everyone following the five-state election,” Kumar stated at a public gathering.

The Indian bloc was mocked by the Bharatiya Janata Party, which referred to it as a “tukde tukde” alliance and claimed it lacked both vision and mission.

In reality, this INDI coalition is a ‘tukde tukde’ coalition. Instead of organizing a Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi ought to organize an INDI Jodo Yatra. There were ongoing conflicts between the SP and the Congress in Madhya Pradesh, AAP and the Congress from Delhi to Punjab, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and Mamata Banjeree in West Bengal, and Congress and the Left in Kerala. Today, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar denounced the Congress. It implies that there is no goal or vision for this collaboration. All of these things—confusion, corruption, ambition, and frustration—are pitted against one another in this coalition. They ridicule each other because of this, according to BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla.

Following a public argument between INDIA alliance partners Congress and Samajwadi Party over seat distribution in Madhya Pradesh, Nitish Kumar made the remark. There was not one SP name on the list of 144 candidates that the Congress had given. The INDIA partnership, the party subsequently said, was intended for domestic politics. “Betrayal” was how SP chief Akhilesh Yadav described the comment.

On Wednesday, Kumar compared the power dynamics in Bihar since taking over as chief minister in 2005 to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s rule prior to that year, highlighting tensions between the party and its allies, the JDU and RJD.

“Do you recall the state of the power supply twenty years ago?” Kumar questioned the crowd at a celebration honoring the Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited’s (BSPHCL) eleventh foundation day in Patna.

He then turned to face the three ministers seated on the platform: Sunil Kumar, the excise and prohibition portfolio held by the JD-U, Alok Mehta, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) minister of revenue and land reform, and Bijendra Yadav, the power minister and member of the chief minister’s party, the JD-U.

“Never claim ownership of any work on your own behalf. Put the state government in charge of it. I don’t claim any personal credit… I give the state government credit for it. The job that our state government has been doing is enormous” he said.

Kumar stirred some controversy last month when he referred to BJP politician Radha Mohan Singh as one of his friends at an event. “Everyone here is a friend,” he had remarked, gesturing to the group leader. Since you and I are unique, does this imply that the relationship we have will end? For the duration that I live, you and I will be linked.”

RJD had downplayed the comment. “Sitting in front, Radha Mohan Singh (BJP) talked about his private relationship. No reference is made to any party. People misunderstood him,” Shakti Yadav, the leader of the party, stated.

Additionally, the BJP refuted the remarks.

“Nitish Kumar departed; we requested that he do so. The BJP is adamant that we are working together for development, yet there is a conflict over values. “Amit Shah has stated that he is not associated with Nitish Kumar,” stated state BJP chief Saket Choudhary.
