NIA Conducts Raids Across Kashmir Valley In Terror Funding Probe

On Monday, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out coordinated raids across multiple districts in the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, Baramulla, Sopore, and Bandipora, as part of an ongoing investigation into terror-related activities and funding networks.

The searches specifically targeted residential and other premises linked to individuals suspected of involvement in militancy and illegal financing that supports terrorist operations in the region.

The NIA conducted the raids swiftly and comprehensively with assistance from local police and the CRPF.

Sources familiar with the matter described the actions as part of a wider crackdown on terror financing and support networks that have been operating across the Valley for years, posing a significant threat to civilians and security personnel alike.

In Baramulla district, the NIA focused on areas including Bomai Sopore, Zethan Rafiabad, and Model Town Sopore, while operations continued in Bandipora’s main town and the HMT Mustafabad area of Srinagar district.

Officials have not released a full statement, but the raids are expected to provide crucial evidence for ongoing investigations.

The NIA has consistently contested terror-related cases in designated courts, including a 2019 charge sheet against 12 individuals, among them Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed and Hizbul Mujahideen chief Syed Salahuddin, while also opposing bail applications for separatist leaders, including Shabir Shah and others.

The NIA is pursuing the death penalty for JKLF chief Yasin Malik, who witnesses have identified as the main perpetrator of the 1990 Rawalpora killings; he is already serving a life sentence.

The raids and legal proceedings highlight the agency’s commitment to dismantling terror networks and bringing attackers to justice.
