NEET-UG 2024 Revised Results: 17 Candidates Score Full Marks

On Friday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the latest results for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate exam, marking the fourth update to the results. This release follows a Supreme Court directive for the NTA to adjust scores for a Physics question that the NTA had originally deemed to have two correct answers.

In this latest update, 17 students now share the top rank with a perfect score of 720 out of 720. This number has dropped significantly from the 67 students listed as top scorers in the initial results released on June 4. The NTA published the second version of the results on July 1 after conducting a retest for 1,563 students; only 812 of these students chose to retake the exam. The NTA issued the third set of revised results on July 20, in compliance with the Supreme Court’s guidelines.

17 students from 10 states gets 720 in Neet-UG 2024

The 17 students who achieved the top score come from various states: Delhi (2), Uttar Pradesh (2), Bihar (1), Rajasthan (4), Punjab (1), West Bengal (1), Maharashtra (3), Tamil Nadu (1), Kerala (1), and Chandigarh (1). Additionally, six students scored 716, and 77 students scored 715 in the latest results.

Initially, the NTA had awarded top ranks to 67 candidates. However, six of these candidates had received extra marks that the Supreme Court later ordered the NTA to remove. The court had received around 45 petitions challenging the NTA’s practice of awarding extra marks for time lost during exams at certain centers.

After these final revisions, the number of qualified candidates has decreased. Out of the 23,33,162 students who took the NEET-UG 2024 exam, 13,15,853 are now listed as qualified. This figure is slightly lower than the 13,16,268 students who were initially listed as qualified in the results released on June 4.  415 students who were previously considered qualified are no longer listed as such after the final results.
