The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has escalated its investigation into the NEET question paper leak case, scheduling interrogations for 9 candidates under scrutiny.
These individuals, accompanied by their parents, will face questioning in Patna over the next two days.
An official statement disclosed that the EOU has formed a Special Investigating Team (SIT) specifically for this case.
Initially, notices were issued to 11 candidates; however, 2 candidates will participate in the investigation at a later date.
The investigation focuses on determining how the alleged solver gang obtained the candidates’ roll numbers and roll codes.
Upon transferring the case to EOU, authorities promptly requested detailed candidate information from the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The NEET examination, a critical gateway for medical college admissions, took place on 5 May.
The subsequent investigation revealed that certain examination mafias had accessed the question papers ahead of time, prompting the arrest of 13 individuals, including mafias, students, and parents.
Currently, the EOU is seeking custody of four arrested candidates to explore potential connections with the 11 under suspicion.
Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan acknowledged irregularities in the process and emphasized that stringent actions await any NTA officials found complicit.
The 11 candidates summoned for questioning hail from various districts across Bihar, including seven girls.
The EOU has also requested the original NEET question paper from NTA to aid its investigation, yet delays in obtaining this crucial evidence have slowed progress.
In light of these developments, an EOU delegation plans to meet NTA officials in New Delhi, aiming to expedite the investigation and ensure transparency in resolving this serious breach of examination integrity.
