NEET Exams To Be Eliminated, Tamil Nadu CM Assure Students After Father And Son Commits Suicide

On Sunday, a NEET candidate committed suicide in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, after failing the exam twice. His father also committed suicide a day later.
MK Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, promised on Monday that the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET) will be abolished and urged students not to end their lives under any circumstances. Stalin’s remarks coincide with an increase in suicides in the state related to exam failure.

Ending your life is not the solution

Stalin urged the students to refrain from suicidal thoughts, saying, “Be confident; do not consider suicide. Under no circumstances should you consider ending your life. Without a doubt, we can get rid of NEET, which stands in the way of your objectives. The Tamil Nadu government is actively pursuing

After failing the exam twice, a NEET candidate committed suicide on Sunday in Chennai. His father also committed suicide a day later.

“When I learned that NEET aspirant Jegadeeswaran from Chrompet had killed himself, I was horrified. The student’s father Selvasekar also committed himself the next day as I was pondering how to comfort his parents. I’m not sure how to comfort the friends, family, and associates of Jegadeeswaran. “Salvador extends condolences on the passing of S Jegadeeswaran and his father Selvasekar.

Exemption of NEET

Stalin referred to the Assembly resolutions that asked for Tamil Nadu to be exempt from the NEET and said that the first resolution was turned down by the Governor while the second resolution was sent to the President for approval. “It seems as though Governor Ravi wants to table the bill. The Chief Minister stated that the cost of the NEET exam has increased and that only the wealthy could afford it.

He claimed that people who couldn’t support the significant financial load of education failed the test. A situation has developed, according to Stalin, that effectively restricts access to medical education to the wealthy by requiring individuals who can pass the NEET exam to have financial means.

Jagadeeswaran, a 19-year-old student who passed Class XII in 2022 with an impressive grade point average of 427, struggled in entrance exams, which he took thrice but failed to pass.

Calls from Jagadeeswaran’s father went unanswered. Later, he was discovered dead in his room, with signs of suicide. The police also disclosed that Jagadeeswaran had taken terrible action because he had been greatly upset by his academic failures.

While Jagatheeswaran allegedly hanged himself on Saturday, his father also killed himself on Sunday because he could not handle the loss.

Final death on the altar  of NEET

As he expressed his sincere sympathies to Jagatheeswaran and his father Selvasekhar’s grieving family, Stalin remarked, “Let their death be the final one on the altar of NEET. Your future is bright, students. Own your confidence. Live your life and let others live theirs. Please, once more, do not hold any suicidal thoughts.
