NCP(SP) Chief Spokesman Mahesh Tapase has raised alarm over the possible surveillance of party MP Supriya Sule by certain government agencies. In a statement issued on Wednesday, Tapase alleged that Sule might be under scrutiny following her recent electoral victory.
Sule’s recent claim heightens Tapase’s concerns that her husband received a notice from the Income Tax Department after she criticized the government during the parliamentary Budget Session. Tapase accuses the BJP of resorting to such measures to undermine Sule after failing to defeat her at the polls.
“The BJP, which was intent on defeating Supriya Sule, now finds itself embarrassed after her recent electoral success,” Tapase said. He alleged that, in a bid to weaken the NCP, the BJP had orchestrated a split within the party by convincing Ajit Pawar to join their ranks.

Furthermore, Tapase expressed apprehension about the potential use of Pegasus spyware to monitor opposition leaders as the Maharashtra Assembly elections approach. “The BJP has a history of tracking its political opponents, and there are fears that Pegasus spyware may be employed to surveil leaders like Supriya Sule,” he stated.
In response to these allegations, Tapase has demanded immediate clarification from the Maharashtra Home Department. He urged the department to confirm whether any surveillance activities are being conducted on Sule, as well as on other opposition figures such as Uddhav Thackeray, Jayant Patil, and Nana Patole.
“Such surveillance, if it exists, would be a serious violation of democratic norms,” Tapase concluded. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability from the Maharashtra Home Ministry regarding these serious concerns.
