NCMEI Chairman Meets Education Minister To Strengthen Minority Education Framework

In a high-level meeting aimed at bolstering the framework of minority education in India, Prof (Dr) Shahid Akhter, the officiating Chairman of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI), held detailed deliberations with the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, in New Delhi today.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Education were also present.

The meeting, described as ‘highly productive and positive’, centred on the empowerment, stability, and holistic development of minority educational institutions across the country.

Prof Akhter emphasised their indispensable role in the national fabric.

“The discussion deeply highlighted the contribution of these institutions in promoting inclusive education, fostering social harmony, and providing equitable opportunities to all sections,” he stated, framing their work as crucial to building ‘an educated, skilled, and harmonious society’.

The agenda extended beyond administrative functioning to the core philosophy of minority education.

Prof Akhter articulated a vision where these institutions are not mere enclaves but active contributors to national progress.

The talks reaffirmed the intrinsic link between the upliftment of minority educational institutions and the nation’s broader educational and social goals.

Echoing this sentiment, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reiterated the Government of India’s steadfast commitment to supporting minority educational institutions in line with the National Education Policy (NEP).

He stressed the importance of continuous dialogue, policy-level cooperation, and institutional reforms to enhance the quality, accessibility, and governance of education offered by these establishments.

NCMEI’s Commitment to Collaboration and Academic Excellence

Prof Akhter warmly welcomed the Minister and expressed his sincere gratitude for the government’s guidance and sustained support.

“We are committed to working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Education and all relevant stakeholders to protect the constitutional rights of minority educational institutions and to promote academic excellence,” he further affirmed, doubling down on the NCMEI’s mandate.

The meeting concluded with a shared resolve to further fortify minority educational institutions as robust and effective pillars of India’s inclusive development and educational advancement.

This high-level engagement signals a concerted push to address ground-level challenges and harness the potential of these institutions in shaping the country’s future human capital.
