As people across India and the world celebrate Dussehra and Durga Puja this weekend, festive cheer is in the air, marking the symbolic triumph of good over evil.
Both President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended their heartfelt wishes on the occasion, urging citizens to embrace the spirit of victory and positivity.
In a message shared on her official social media account, President Murmu expressed her joy in the celebration of Durga Puja.
Taking to X, President Murmu posted, “On the auspicious occasion of Durga Puja, I extend my warm greetings and best wishes to all Indians living in India and abroad,” emphasizing the universal appeal of these festivals.
Additionally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his greetings on the occasion of Vijayadashami, which commemorates Lord Ram’s victory over Ravana and the power of Goddess Durga.
Taking to X, PM Modi posted, “Heartfelt greetings of Vijayadashami to all fellow citizens. May Goddess Durga and Lord Shri Ram bless you with success in every aspect of life. This is my wish.”
The national capital is all set for grand celebrations, with a special highlight being the annual Dussehra festivities hosted by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee in Delhi.
Meanwhile, both President Murmu and Prime Minister Modi are likely to attend this year’s event, which will culminate in the traditional burning of the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna, and Meghnath – a symbol of good triumphing over evil.
The event, which is likely to begin at 5:30 PM, marks the conclusion of a 101-year-old Ramleela performance that has entertained and inspired audiences over the past several days.
The Special Protection Group (SPG) has implemented elaborate security arrangements to ensure the safety of all attendees as part of the festivities.
The Dussehra celebrations will feature several notable film personalities and top political leaders.
Bollywood actor Ajay Devgan, director Rohit Shetty, and actress Kareena Kapoor will also be among the high-profile guests witnessing the symbolic Ravana Dahan at the historic Red Fort.
Political dignitaries such as former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, are likely to attend the event, adding to the celebratory spirit.
The inclusion of prominent figures from both the political and entertainment spheres underscores the unifying power of these festivals.
Across the country, people are coming together in diverse ways to celebrate Dussehra and Durga Puja.
From the stunning pandals in Kolkata to the vibrant Ramleela performances in North India, the festivals are being marked by colorful processions, devotional rituals, and community events.
As millions of people participate in these celebrations, the messages from India’s top leaders serve as a reminder of the deeper meaning behind these festivals: the enduring hope that good will always overcome evil, and that unity and strength will guide the country toward a brighter future.
