A 76-year-old pedestrian suffered severe injuries after a hit-and-run incident in the Goregaon West locality of Mumbai. The accident took place on March 22 at approximately 6:40 PM along MG Road, as confirmed by police officials.
The victim, Babulal Chopra, was attempting to cross the road when a fast-moving scooter hit him. The rider did not stop and escaped immediately, leaving Chopra injured at the scene.
Family members rushed Chopra to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital for urgent medical attention. Doctors have stated that his condition continues to be critical due to serious head trauma and substantial blood loss.
Babulal Chopra is currently under intensive care, with medical staff closely monitoring his fragile condition.
Law enforcement authorities have filed a case against an unidentified person and begun efforts to locate the suspect.
Investigators are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the scooter and its rider.
Police officials have indicated that the search operation is ongoing and remains a priority.
Relatives of the injured man have urged authorities to act quickly and ensure the accused is apprehended without delay. They have called for justice and accountability in the matter.
This case adds to the growing number of hit-and-run incidents reported across Mumbai.
On March 27, police initiated a search for a vehicle linked to a fatal accident near the Centaur Hotel on the Western Express Highway in Vile Parle (East).
In that incident, 24-year-old biker Neelkanth Ingole lost his life after being struck by an unidentified vehicle. He later died from severe head and internal injuries, prompting an intensified investigation.
In another tragic incident on March 24, a 42-year-old businessman from Kalyan, Shrinivas Tandle, died after his bicycle was hit by a car allegedly driven by a 17-year-old.
Tandle, who lived in the Khadakpada area of Thane district, was known in the local business circle and had links to one of the oldest cloth stores in Kalyan.
