Mumbai BMW Hit-And-Run: CM Shinde Vows Justice; Aaditya Thackeray Demands ‘Bulldozer Justice’

A day after Mihir Shah, the main accused in the Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case, was arrested, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray intensified his criticism of the Maharashtra government. Thackeray questioned why “bulldozer justice” was not applied to the residence of the accused and his father, Rajesh Shah, who is a leader in the ruling Shiv Sena under Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.

In response, Eknath Shinde asserted that strict action would be taken against those found guilty in the hit-and-run case, emphasizing that no one would be spared.

While speaking to reporters after meeting the husband of the victim, Kaveri Nakhwa, Aaditya Thackeray stated, “This is not an accident, it’s a murder. Mihir Shah should receive the strictest punishment. If bulldozer justice is necessary, it should be applied to the accused’s residence.”

Thackeray criticized the delayed blood sample collection, arguing, “Will you get what you need from the blood if you take the sample after 7 hours? My demand is to focus on what can be seen on CCTV, the driver’s testimony, and the victim’s statement. This is murder and should be treated as such. This is more than a hit-and-run; they dragged the deceased and then hit her again by reversing the car. It’s murder.”

Mihir Shah (24) is the primary suspect in the Worli hit-and-run case, which resulted in the death of 45-year-old Kaveri Nakhwa.

On Tuesday, a Mumbai court extended the police custody of Rajesh Shah’s driver, Rajrishi Singh Bidawat, until Thursday, July 11.

Amid accusations of bias due to the key accused being the son of a party leader, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reaffirmed that no one would be shielded from accountability.

“Whoever is guilty will not be spared; strict action will be taken against them,” Shinde told reporters.

He added, “We stand by the family of the victim. We will provide legal and financial assistance to the grieving family.”

In light of the incident, the Shiv Sena on Wednesday dismissed Rajesh Shah from his position as deputy leader. Rajesh Shah is a Shiv Sena politician from the neighboring Palghar district.
