The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to commence today, with the Union Budget scheduled to be tabled on July 23. The session will have 19 sittings in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha till August 12. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Economic Survey in Parliament today, followed by the Union Budget on July 23.
The Centre plans to introduce six bills during the session, including the Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024, aimed at modernizing the civil aviation sector, and the Disaster Management (Amendment) Law Bill. Other bills include the Boilers Bill, Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill, and Rubber (Promotion and Development) Bill. The Budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will also be presented.

Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting was convened on Sunday, where the Centre urged opposition parties to cooperate and ensure a smooth conduct of proceedings. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized that the government is open to discussing all issues and assured that discussions will be held in the House as per the decisions taken in the Business Advisory Committee meetings of both Houses.
The opposition is expected to raise various issues, including the NEET paper leak case, alleged misuse of probe agencies, and the appointment of Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker. The session is likely to be intense, with the opposition seeking to corner the Centre on various matters.
