Minority Education Gets Digital Push As NCMEI Delegation Visits Keralam’s Ilahia Trust

A delegation from the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions (NCMEI), headed by officiating Chairman Prof (Dr) Shahid Akhter, held extensive discussions with the leadership of the Ilahia Trust at Ilahia College of Engineering & Technology in Mulavoor, Keralam.

The meeting centred on strengthening minority educational institutions through technology-driven reforms, modern teaching practices and academic expansion.

Trust Chairman Janab KM Pareeth presided over the session, while Advocate TS Rasheed welcomed the participants and outlined the objectives of the gathering.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Akhter stressed that minority institutions must embrace digital transformation to remain competitive in an evolving education sector. He highlighted the importance of adopting innovative learning methods and integrating technology to improve academic standards, governance, and transparency.

Drawing on his experience in higher education and public service, Prof Akhter reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to protecting the constitutional rights of minority institutions while simplifying administrative procedures through digital platforms.

Jamia Hamdard Registrar Colonel Tahir Mustafa encouraged the Ilahia Trust to explore opportunities for securing Deemed-to-be-University status for its group of institutions. He explained that such recognition could provide greater academic autonomy and enhance the institutions’ national standing.

Professor Bahul Islam, Director of IMT Hyderabad, also emphasised the need to modernise teaching methods and regularly update educational technologies to prepare students for changing academic and industry demands.

Several trustees, senior administrators, and faculty members participated in the discussions, reflecting a shared commitment to improving educational opportunities for minority communities.

Er PH Muneer, Chairman of Ilahia College of Engineering & Technology, concluded the programme by expressing appreciation to the NCMEI delegation for its guidance and vision.

The meeting reinforced the Commission’s goal of promoting transparent governance, technological advancement, and institutional excellence.
