Military Intelligence Tip Leads Police To Bust Fake Aadhaar Card Racket

Police in Prayagraj dismantled an illegal Aadhaar card racket after receiving critical inputs from Military Intelligence.

The alert pointed to suspicious activities under the jurisdiction of the Nawabganj police station. The information suggested that a group was creating forged Aadhaar cards by unlawfully exploiting biometric fingerprints.

The accused allegedly charged money from the public for these illegal services.

Acting swiftly, a joint team from Nawabganj police station and the SOG/Surveillance Cell, Ganganagar, launched a coordinated operation.

The team conducted a raid near Vidya Computer on Dahiyanwa Road in Nawabganj on Friday. During the operation, police arrested two accused on the spot.

The arrested individuals were identified as Anish Kumar Patel, son of late Ramnaresh Patel and resident of Belha, and Surendra Gupta, son of Dinesh Kumar Gupta and resident of village Baribhoj.

Police confirmed that both men actively participated in producing forged Aadhaar documents.

The joint team recovered a large cache of equipment used for identity fraud. The seized items included an eye scanner machine, a Cogent thumb scanner, a Lenovo laptop, a laptop camera, an Epson scanner, and an HP LaserJet printer.

Police also recovered a cloned fake fingerprint, printer cables, a laptop charger, and multiple blank Aadhaar print sheets.

In addition, officers seized three ready-made Aadhaar cards, receipts linked to 22 Aadhaar cards, eight filled enrolment or update forms, and ten blank enrolment forms.

The recovery also included three caste certificates, two Aadhaar photocopies, and two birth certificates carrying plain signatures and seals. These materials confirmed the scale of the forgery operation.

Police registered FIR No. 23/2026 under Sections 318(4), 336(3), and 338 of the Indian Penal Code, along with Sections 66(C) and 66(D) of the Information Technology Act.

Authorities initiated further legal proceedings as per established procedures.

During interrogation, the accused revealed the involvement of a third associate. They admitted to working with Ajay Gupta, son of Shankar Lal Gupta, also a resident of Baribhoj.

The group allegedly used cloned silicon fingerprint samples to generate fake IDs and shared the proceeds.

Ajay Gupta remains absconding. Police have formed a dedicated team to track him down and complete the investigation.
