Meerut: Arun Govil, renowned for portraying Lord Ram in the beloved TV series ‘Ramayan’, attributed his positive reception to people’s devotion to the deity. Govil expressed confidence in PM Modi’s extensive brand value and pledges, foreseeing a victorious outcome for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Lok Sabha elections. He affirmed that Modi has delivered on the promises outlined in the ‘Sankalp Patra’, emphasizing his commitment to national ideals.
Regarding the political prospects of the opposition INDIA alliance, Govil expressed minimal optimism, stating, “I don’t have much hope from them.” He underscored public awareness of the efforts undertaken by the central administration.
Reflecting on his reception in his political role, Govil remarked that people perceive a positive aspect in him due to their reverence for Lord Ram. He recounted instances where people perform ‘aarti’ and offered him flowers during his campaign outings.
When asked about the ease of Modi’s outreach to the people in his first election campaign in Uttar Pradesh, Govil pointed out that Modi commenced his rallies in UP from Meerut in both 2014 and 2019, indicating potential benefits for his candidacy. He noted the palpable excitement among the populace, asserting that their affectionate response obviates the need for extensive campaigning.
Additionally, Govil pledged to address local concerns if elected, including alleviating traffic congestion, establishing a sports stadium, and facilitating the construction of an airport in Meerut. Meerut is slated to vote in the second phase on April 26.
