Mayawati Removes Nephew Akash Anand From All BSP Posts; Rules Him Out As Successor

In a significant move, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati announced the removal of her nephew Akash Anand from all party positions on Sunday, effectively ruling him out as her political successor.

This shake-up follows a crucial party meeting where leaders decided to appoint Anand Kumar, the BSP’s general secretary, and Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam as the new national co-ordinators of the party.

Mayawati Declares No Successor Until Her Death

In her statement, Mayawati made it clear that no one would be her successor in the party as long as she remains alive. This firm declaration marks a decisive shift in the leadership dynamics of the BSP and underscores Mayawati’s continued control over the party’s future.

Following the reshuffle, Mayawati outlined the roles of the newly appointed national co-ordinators. She emphasized that the development of the Bahujan community was vital, not only for the progress of Uttar Pradesh but for the advancement of India as a whole.

Anand Kumar, the newly appointed national co-ordinator, will handle party affairs in Mayawati’s absence, including overseeing income-tax and litigation matters, with her consent.

Praising Anand Kumar for his loyalty and dedication, Mayawati expressed confidence in his ability to manage the party’s operations.

“He never disappointed me and always remained loyal to the party’s mission,” she remarked, highlighting his consistent efforts in maintaining good contact with workers and providing regular updates.

Akash Anand’s Removal Linked To ‘Negative Influence’

Mayawati removed Akash Anand from his position as national co-ordinator due to the negative influence of his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth.

This is the second time Akash Anand has been stripped of party positions. The first occurr in May 2024, just before the Lok Sabha elections, although he reinstate  two months later after the elections.

Mayawati Asserts Control Over Party’s Future

In her statement, Mayawati also made a clear and unambiguous declaration regarding the future of the BSP. She firmly stated that she would not allow any successor to take over the party while she is alive, further consolidating her leadership role within the party.

The reshuffle and these declarations signal Mayawati’s unwavering commitment to her vision for the BSP, ensuring that she remains at the helm of the party’s direction and leadership.
