Massive Devotee Rush At Siddhivinayak Temple On Angarki Chaturthi

The sacred occasion of Angarki Chaturthi drew a massive influx of devotees to Mumbai’s renowned Siddhivinayak Temple today, with worshippers arriving from across Maharashtra and beyond.

Since Monday, long, serpentine queues have been forming outside the temple as people patiently await their turn to offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. Many endured waits of three to four hours for the coveted darshan.

The temple precincts have been teeming with visitors since dawn.

For many, the wait has been a test of both devotion and endurance, as they stood in the humid Mumbai weather for hours. Several pilgrims arrived a day in advance to secure an early position in the queue.

“It’s tiring but worth it for Bappa’s blessings,” said one devotee who had travelled overnight from Pune.

Anticipating the large turnout, the temple authorities, in coordination with the Mumbai Police, have implemented an extensive security plan.

More than 100 CCTV cameras have been installed to monitor the premises and surrounding areas. Police personnel have been deployed at strategic points to ensure smooth crowd movement and maintain order.

Organisers have erected temporary pandals along the queues to provide comfort to devotees, offering shade and relief from the sun. They have also made free tea and drinking water available, ensuring that no devotee suffers from fatigue or dehydration during the long wait.

Free Transport and Extended Metro Services for Pilgrims

In a significant gesture to facilitate travel, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and state transport authorities have arranged free bus services from Dadar railway station to the temple.

Additionally, Mumbai authorities have extended metro services to accommodate the influx of visitors late into the night.

Temple officials expect more than seven lakh devotees to seek blessings today alone. The temple administration has declared full preparedness to handle the rush, with volunteers and staff working around the clock to ensure a safe and smooth experience for worshippers.

Devotees of Lord Ganesha consider Angarki Chaturthi highly auspicious, marking it with prayers, offerings, and fasting. Many believe the day holds special spiritual significance and fulfils wishes made on this occasion.

As chants of ‘Ganpati Bappa Morya’ filled the air around Prabhadevi, the Siddhivinayak Temple stood as a symbol of faith, resilience, and community spirit, a reminder of Mumbai’s enduring devotion to its beloved deity.
