Maruti Suzuki: Coming Up With 2 New SUV’s In 2023

Maruti Suzuki is getting ready to expand its lineup with two additional SUVs in 2023 after introducing the new Brezza and Grand Vitara models in 2022.

It anticipates that these SUVs will enable it to reclaim a 50% market share. Maruti Suzuki’s MD, Hisashi Takeuchi, said on Monday that the business will display two new SUVs at the next Auto Expo 2023. Jimny 5-door and Coupe SUV based in Baleno verified by MD.

Maruti’s first EV SUV will be constructed in Gujarat,

Both the 5-door Jimny and the SUV-coupe based on the Baleno will be available in the two new SUVs and will be on sale in 2023, as we have previously reported. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki will unveil a brand-new electric SUV concept (Codenamed YY8), which will eventually lead to a Creta-sized all-electric SUV that will go on market by 2025.

Takeuchi says his vision is “to give joy of mobility to as many people as possible in India”, and the company, on its part, is working towards building a portfolio that meets different needs of Indian buyers. Takeuchi says that he understands there are “some holes” in the company’s portfolio, and they are trying “to restore it” with Suzuki Motor Corporation’s support.

“We can strengthen our line-up. In the long run, we will come back to the position that we were. This year, we introduced vehicles for the Indian roads like the Baleno, new Brezza and Grand Vitara. It is an answer to those questions. We are on the way and we have more to come in the future. In January, at the Motor Show, we will be showcasing two new SUV models,” he added.

These two vehicles are likely to bring in additional sales of over 2.5-3 lakh vehicles in 2023-2024, say people in the know. Due to the lack of SUV options, Maruti Suzuki’s market share had slipped between 500-800 basis points to about 41-42 percent. However, with an entry into midsize SUVs with the Grand Vitara, and the launch of the all new Brezza, the company has improved its SUV market share.
