Man Posing As IAS Officer Arrested In Bihar; Fake IDs, Tesla And Cards Seized

Bihar Police on Sunday arrested a man from Khagaria district for allegedly posing as an IAS officer and using a fake identity to defraud villagers and local residents. The accused has been identified as Manish Kumar.

Police said Manish Kumar displayed forged Government of India identity documents on his private vehicles and used the fake identity to deceive people and swindle their money. People became suspicious of his activities and approached the police, who then arrested him.

A team formed under the Khagaria Superintendent of Police subsequently apprehended him. Multiple complaints had accused him of committing fraud while posing as an IAS officer.

During interrogation, Kumar allegedly claimed an association with the Central Vigilance Commission. He also said he was a secret agent for National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

Police found these claims to be false and recovered a fake identity card identifying him as an IAS officer.

A search of his residence led to the recovery of approximately 31 litres of foreign liquor. The search also resulted in the recovery of two antlers, identified as horns of a swamp deer. Their possession constitutes an offence under the Wildlife Protection Act.

Police seized a Tesla car and a Tata Safari carrying Government of India tags.

According to police, the Tesla features advanced technology for fully automated driving and falls in the high-end category.

Investigators also recovered five Apple mobile phones, two laptops, 20 credit cards from various banks, eight debit cards and four chequebooks.

Police said the seized items and documents are being examined.

Claims that Kumar owns assets in Bihar, other states and abroad are also being verified.

The investigation is examining not only the alleged use of a fake identity but also the accused’s financial transactions and assets.

Police are taking further legal action following his arrest.
