Border row between Maharashtra and Karnataka
Maharashtra Border Row: ”We condemn Anti-Marathi stand”says Uddhav Thackeray on Maharashtra On Border Row.
Maharashtra Border Row: The ousted from power in June 2022, the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena, has been trying to attack the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government, with allegations now of not opting for a stronger stand against the border state, Karnataka.
Karnataka lately had condemned the border dispute along with saying it was “created” by Maharashtra.
Earlier, a unanimously passed resolution by Karnataka Legislative Assembly on the border row with Maharashtra, resolved to protect the state’s interests. On the resolution Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde condemned it today calling it an “anti-Marathi” stand, and subsequeently a similar resolution has been moved in the Maharashtra Assembly too.
The resolution in Maharashtra Assembly too, was passed unanimously. Now the conflict between the two states, may further escalate and this may prove to be a big challenge for the BJP high command since both the states are ruled by the BJP. Despite the intervention of union Home Minister Amit Shah, the struggle seems to be turning grave where the saffron party has to act keeping an eye on the Karnataka polls next year.
In accordance with the Maharashtra resolution, there are more than eight hundred Marathi-speaking villages, and they aspire “every inch of these villages to be brought into Maharashtra”. The resolution maintains that everything required for the same in Supreme Court, will be done by the Maharashtra government.
The resolution asserts that eight hundred and sixty five villages, which includes “every inch of Karwar, Belgaum, Bidar, Bhalki, Nipani” will be within the territory of Maharashtra.
Former Karnataka CM and senior Cong leader quickly reacted on the resolution saying called it “nothing but a provocation by Maharashtra.”
