Mahakal Ki Holi: Devotees Play Holi With Mahakal In Ujjain

Mahakaleshwar Temple of Ujjain:  Holi was played fiercely between the devotees and God. Devotees from all over the country reached Ujjain to celebrate the festival of Holi with Lord Mahakal. During this, great enthusiasm was seen among the devotees of Shiva. Shiva devotees wait throughout the year to celebrate the Holi festival with Lord Mahakal. For the Holi festival, flowers and herbal gulal are also called for in the Mahakaleshwar temple.

The festival of Holi is first celebrated in the Mahakaleshwar temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas. Dinesh, the priest of the Mahakaleshwar temple, said this tradition has been going on since immemorial. Lord Mahakal was decorated with cannabis and dry fruits before the evening aarti in the Mahakaleshwar temple. After this, the Pandit and Purohit families played Holi fiercely with the devotees in the evening aarti.
