Maha Kumbh : Rs 175Cr for Prayagraj Airport redevelopment, 20 cities will be connected

PRAYAGRAJ :In view of forthcoming  Maha Kumbh 2025, Prayagraj Airport will be redeveloped with world class facilities for which  Rs 175 crore has been sanctioned by the government.

Currently the number of aero bridges here is two. A new building will be built along with the existing building.The size and facilities of the airport will also increase.

New arrangements will soon start as per international standards. This will also open the passage  for operation of new flights from Prayagraj city. Efforts are being made to connect almost every part of the country with Prayagraj during Mahakumbh, this will make more easier for people to reach holy city during Mahakumbh.

According to the blue  blueprint for the redevelopment of the existing terminal building has been prepared. There will be seating arrangements for 1350 passengers simultaneously at the airport.  Facilities at the airport will be  including passenger seating capacity and entry gates into the terminal will be increased.

Currently, there is a provision for 270 arriving passengers and the same number of outgoing passengers to sit together at the airport.

According to the new blue print there will be provision for 675 incoming and equal number of outgoing passengers after which  more number of passengers will be able to sit inside the airport . A new proposal has also been prepared for the gate which is currently available to go to the airport. One number gate will be shifted.

The number of existing 11 checking counters will be increased to 18. The airport director’s office, meeting hall and other chambers which are on the first floor will also  be shifted.

A new roof will be constructed which will be used in two ways at the airport. In this, a security hold area will be created on the first floor. A new aero bridge will be also be constructed, by which passengers will be able to get convenience.During Maha Kumbh number of flights from Prayagraj will operate in  20 cities.

Four new bridges will also be developed,these bridges will connect the aircraft gate to the airport terminal. The redevelopment process will  be completed by October 2024.

Currently, Indigo Airlines and Alliance Air are providing flights from here to Bhopal, Indore,Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Raipur, Lucknow, Dehradun, Bilaspur.
