Maha Kumbh 2025 To Generate 12 Lakh Temporary Jobs Across Sectors

The ongoing Maha Kumbh, which began on 13 January and will continue until 26 February, will likely create 12 lakh gig and temporary jobs across multiple sectors, according to NLB Services CEO Sachin Alug.

This insight, derived from internal data analysis and industry reports by the global technology and digital talent solutions provider, highlights the event’s role as a significant economic driver.

The Uttar Pradesh government anticipates hosting 400 million devotees during this historic congregation, which is emerging as a catalyst for economic growth and employment generation, Alug noted.

The event’s economic impact spans various sectors, including infrastructure, event management, security, local trade, tourism, entertainment, and horticulture, fostering growth in traditional and modern business domains.

The tourism and hospitality sector will likely create approximately 4.5 lakh jobs.

These include positions such as hotel staff, tour guides, porters, travel consultants, and event coordinators to accommodate the massive influx of visitors.

Similarly, the transportation and logistics sector will likely generate around 3 lakh jobs, encompassing roles like drivers, supply chain managers, courier personnel, and other support staff.

Temporary medical camps established for the event will likely employ about 1.5 lakh freelance nurses, paramedics, and allied healthcare professionals to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees.

The IT and technology sector is also experiencing increased demand, with 2 lakh professionals required for tasks such as managing virtual darshan apps, real-time event updates, and cybersecurity to facilitate seamless digital experiences.

Maha Kumbh Retail Jobs To Add 1 Lakh Positions For Local Businesses

Retail businesses catering to devotees’ needs are expected to add 1 lakh jobs, focusing on roles like on-ground sales and customer support staff to meet the demand for religious items, souvenirs, and local products.

The 45-day Maha Kumbh, recognized as the world’s largest spiritual gathering, is not only a significant cultural event but also a major contributor to India’s economic and employment landscape.
