The Maha Kumbh 2025 administration once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to cleanliness by swiftly restoring the Sangam Ghats after the Magh Purnima bathing festival.
Cleaning teams’ prompt action ensured the ghats were immaculate by night, providing a sacred and hygienic environment for the next influx of devotees.
On Wednesday, over 2 crore devotees gathered at the Sangam to partake in the auspicious Magh Purnima snan. As part of their rituals, many left behind flowers, garlands, clothes, and food offerings.
Additionally, the extensive use of public toilets added to the waste left on the ghats. However, once the crowds began to dwindle, the administration launched a massive cleaning campaign. The cleanup started immediately after the bathing festival, and by the evening, the ghats had already been restored to their pristine state.
To ensure a swift response, sector magistrates were directed to initiate large-scale sanitation efforts as soon as the crowd dispersed. The cleaning teams worked relentlessly through the night, collecting and disposing of solid waste left behind by devotees.
Special cleaning vehicles cleared garbage from both the ghats and the fairgrounds. Additionally, the team conducted comprehensive cesspool operations to thoroughly sanitize all public toilets.
Anand Kumar Singh, sanitation in charge of the fair, explained that the cleaning efforts included sweeping all roads and emptying dustbins placed throughout the fair area. Tippers and compactors were used to remove garbage from dustbins and liner bags.
The administration maintained these cleanliness initiatives daily, but the operation was intensified on major bathing days to ensure the next day’s pilgrims experienced a clean and holy environment.
The fair administration’s swift and efficient cleaning efforts impressed devotees and locals alike. Many appreciated the Yogi government’s dedication to maintaining a well-organized and spotless Maha Kumbh 2025.
One devotee remarked that the administration’s commitment to cleanliness further reinforced their trust in making the Maha Kumbh a model of order and sanitation.
