Maha Kumbh 2025: Roads Leading To Sangam To Be Fully Widened By 30 November

In preparation for the grand Maha Kumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is fast-tracking the completion of an extensive road-widening and beautification project aimed at enhancing accessibility and providing a seamless experience for the millions of devotees expected to attend the event.

The focus is on expanding the road network connecting Prayagraj city to the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers, which is the main attraction for pilgrims during the Maha Kumbh.

Additional Mela Officer Vivek Chaturvedi confirmed that the roads leading to the Sangam, including Triveni Road, Lal Sadak, Kali Sadak, Naval Rai Road, Kila Ghat Road, and Daraganj Road, will be widened to accommodate more devotees, with the goal of doubling their capacity.

The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) and the Cantonment Board have been supporting the work, which is progressing rapidly and will likely complete by 30 November, well ahead of the Maha Kumbh.

“These improvements will ensure smooth access to Sangam and offer a visually pleasing experience for the massive influx of pilgrims. The road-widening will increase the width of these roads by more than double compared to the previous Kumbh Mela, allowing us to manage the expected 40 crore visitors,” Chaturvedi stated.

Infrastructure Upgrades In Prayagraj Ahead Of Maha Kumbh

In addition to the widening of the main roads, significant infrastructure improvements include the installation of interlocking footpaths along both sides of the roads to provide convenience for pilgrims.

The Triveni Road, which connects Prayagraj Junction directly to Sangam, as well as the River Front Road in Daraganj, are also nearing completion, with final touches applied to enhance the overall accessibility.

The authorities will place signboards and hoardings along key intersections and roads to guide visitors to major landmarks and sites. They will also set up information and enquiry centers across the city to provide helpful details for attendees.

The state government emphasized that it is carrying out all road construction work within the fair area, under the jurisdiction of the Cantonment Board, in collaboration with the PDA and other agencies.

Additionally, they are widening interlocking roads from Kila Ghat and Hanuman Mandir to Sangam Nose to accommodate larger crowds, with work set for completion by the end of November.

With these large-scale infrastructural upgrades, the Yogi Adityanath-led government aims to ensure that Maha Kumbh 2025 will be a memorable and smoothly conducted event, as Prayagraj braces for its largest-ever gathering of devotees.
