Magh Mela 2023: The Magh Mela has begun with the first holy dip at the 14 Ghats of Ganges from today. Amid the increasing COVID-19 cases, tight security and help desk have been installed at the entrance. Mela Mitras are assigned to help the devotees to help throughout the Mela.
The famous religious and spiritual Magh Mela of Prayagraj has started today i.e 6th January. The mela will start from Paush Purnima. Several attend the Mela at Prayagraj of Uttar Pradesh. Devotees from all over the country attend the mela to take a dip at the Triveni Sangam of Ganga Yamuna and Saraswati.
Devotees started taking a dip in the Sangam from 4:00 am on the morning of Paush Purnima. Magh Mela has been considered very important in Hinduism as it is related to religion as well as spirituality. Devotees stay here for a month and a half and perform bath, charity, penance and satsang. The spiritual process called Kalpavas.
Magh Mela starts from Paush Purnima and continues till Mahashivaratri. Ahead of the mela, devotees take a dip of faith in Sangam on important dates. In 2023, Magh Mela will start from 6th January till 18th February 2023. Paush Purnima has started from 2:16 in the night of January 6 and will remain till 4:37 in the morning of January 7. According to Udaya Tithi, Paush Purnima is being celebrated on January 6, 2023 only.

Ahead of the mela, extensive arrangements have been made for smooth traffic and security for taking a dip at the confluence of Kalpavasis, saints and devotees on Paush Purnima.
Senior police officers will continue marching along with the commando squad. Police, PAC, ATS, RAF besides mounted police, women police personnel along with fire squad have been deployed at different Ghats and intersections, intersections. Divers have been installed in the stream of Ganga for the safety of the bathers.
Managing Director of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam, Shambhu Kumar, inspected the fair area on Thursday. He instructed the officials to be more vigilant in the fair area. He gave instructions for 24-hour power supply in the fair area.
