A reward of Rs 10,000 is being offered for any information leading to the apprehension of the son of a BJP MLA, who is accused of shooting and causing injury to a tribal individual in Singrauli, Madhya Pradesh. This announcement was made by a police official on Saturday. Vivekanand Vaishya (40), the son of Singrauli MLA Ram Lallu Vaishya, allegedly discharged a firearm, wounding Surya Kumar Khairwar, a tribal member, on Thursday evening within the Morbi police station’s jurisdiction.
Singrauli’s Superintendent of Police, Yusuf Qureshi, informed PTI, “On Friday evening, a reward of Rs 10,000 was declared for information that leads to the apprehension of the accused. On Monday, we will also approach the MP High Court to seek the cancellation of his bail (related to a shooting incident on July 20 last year).” Qureshi elaborated that on July 20 the previous year, Vivekanand Vaishya was accused of assaulting forest guard Sanjeev Shukla and discharging a firearm in an attempt to intimidate him.

Following the incident, Vaishya went into hiding but eventually surrendered at the local court in February of this year. During his time in judicial custody, he spent over 40 days across hospitals in Singrauli, Rewa, and Jabalpur before securing bail from the High Court. In the recent Thursday incident, he has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act, in addition to the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, including charges of attempted murder and criminal intimidation. The altercation occurred when Vaishya engaged in a dispute with a group of individuals near Budhi Mai Mata Temple, approximately 25 kilometres from the district headquarters. Subsequently, he allegedly fired at Khairwar during the confrontation, leading to a bullet wound on Khairwar’s right wrist. Currently, Khairwar is recovering at the district hospital.
