An assistant commissioner of police (ACP) and his gunman were killed late on Friday after their vehicle collided with another on Dyalpura bypass in Samrala.
As per police officials, ACP Sandeep Singh and his gunman, identified as Paramjot Singh, sustained injuries after their SUV collided head-on with another coming in the opposite direction.
The duo were coming from Chandigarh and were on their way to Ludhiana when the accident took place.
They were taken out of the vehicle and shifted to a nearby hospital. Minutes after the collision, their vehicle caught fire.
As per reports, their driver, however, survived the collision. His condition was said to be stable. The identities of people travelling in the other SUV were not confirmed.
Samrala Police Station SHO Rao Varinder Singh said, “Last night at around 12:30 am, ASP Sandeep Singh, along with his gunman and driver, was going to Ludhiana. A car coming from Ludhiana hit their car from the front. The ASP and his gunman died in the accident. The driver is injured.”
Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Samrala police station and the police were further looking into the accident.
