The no-confidence motion against the government in the Lok Sabha was announced by INDIA, the opposition alliance. In response to the ongoing impasse in Parliament over the Manipur violence problem, Congressman Gaurav Gogoi moved the notice of the no-confidence resolution to the Lok Sabha Secretary General’s office. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been urged by the opposition to address the issue in the House. The Opposition flatly opposed the administration’s suggestion, but the government said it would simply hold a discussion and that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will speak on the matter.
