Leaders Reaffirm Commitment To Environmental Protection On Earth Day

On Earth Day, observed globally on 22 April, leaders from various political backgrounds emphasised their dedication to environmental preservation and praised the Modi government’s continuous efforts toward sustainable development and ecological balance.

Earth Day, first celebrated in 1970, is now observed in over 193 countries with more than a billion people participating in coordinated environmental activities worldwide.

Amit Shah Emphasises Eco-Conscious Governance

Union Home Minister Amit Shah marked the occasion with a message on social media, stressing the government’s focus on eco-conscious governance.

Taking to X, Shah posted, “Heartfelt greetings to all on #WorldEarthDay. Mother Earth cradles life and nourishes the ecosystem necessary for us to grow and evolve. It is our duty to return the benevolence with the utmost care to protect and enhance the health of Mother Earth. The Modi govt is steering global initiatives for sustainable development, serving the cause with unwavering commitment. I also applaud the conservationists who are working towards making our planet better.”

Later in the day, Amit Shah will likely attend the ‘Save The Earth Conclave: Bamboo for a Resilient Future’ hosted by the Phoenix Foundation in New Delhi.

JP Nadda Highlights Government Initiatives

Union Minister JP Nadda also shared a message on Earth Day, emphasising the importance of environmental conservation and highlighting government initiatives.

“On World Earth Day, we come together to celebrate our planet and raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. Let’s not limit this commitment to just one day – every action we take should reflect our duty towards Mother Earth. Under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, our government has prioritized environmental conservation through initiatives like ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, ‘Namami Gange Programme, and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, encouraging everyone to protect and nurture our Earth,” Nadda further posted on X.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan Urges Citizens To Act

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan joined the Earth Day observance by urging citizens to take part in efforts to conserve nature.

Taking to X, Chouhan posted, “Come, on this occasion let us all take a pledge to make our earth green and clean. Plant trees, take care of them.”

UP CM Yogi Adityanath Draws On Cultural Values

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also paid tribute to India’s cultural commitment to living harmoniously with nature, sharing the slogan ‘Mata Bhoomi: Putroham Prithivya’ to encourage sustainable practices.

“On ‘World Earth Day’, heartfelt greetings to the people of the state and all those dedicated to environmental protection! Let us, following the slogan of Indian culture ‘Mata Bhoomi: Putroham Prithivya’, be resolved to keep Mother Earth, the sustainer and lifeline of the entire creation, green and clean,” UP CM posted on X.

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Pushes For A Greener Delhi

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also reaffirmed her government’s dedication to building a clean and green national capital.

Taking to X, CM Gupta posted, “On this Earth Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a clean, green, and sustainable Delhi. Inspired by the visionary leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji, we are moving ahead with the spirit of climate responsibility and environmental stewardship. Let’s join hands to protect our environment, conserve our resources, and leave behind a healthier planet for generations to come. Together, let’s build a #GreenDelhi.”
