Kyndryl Pledges $2.25 Billion To India; Announces AI Lab In Bengaluru

Global IT infrastructure company Kyndryl has announced a $2.25 billion investment in India over the next three years, reinforcing its long-term commitment to digital innovation, AI-driven governance, and talent development across the country.

At the centre of this initiative is the launch of a new AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru and a nationwide skilling programme to train 200,000 citizens in next-generation technologies.

Kyndryl will establish the upcoming AI Innovation Lab in Bengaluru as a hub for collaborative innovation.

The lab will enable Indian businesses to co-create AI-powered solutions with Kyndryl’s experts in data science, software, cloud, and platform engineering.

Similar to the company’s labs in the UK and Singapore, the Bengaluru centre will focus on AI-led consulting and digital transformation. It will also provide governance support.

The lab will also align with Indian Mission priorities, targeting critical infrastructure, cyber resilience, and public service delivery.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Kyndryl’s announcement, stating, “India warmly welcomes global partners to explore the vast opportunities in our nation and collaborate with our talented youth to innovate and excel.”

Kyndryl CEO Martin Schroeter said the company will develop its people, expand its technical capabilities, and support innovation across India.

Partnership with Government to Enhance Ease of Doing Business

Kyndryl will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry as part of the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) initiative.

Its AI platform, Kyndryl Bridge, will help integrate agentic AI into India’s regulatory reform agenda, supporting transparent and efficient governance.

To address the growing demand for advanced digital skills, Kyndryl is launching the Kyndryl Skilling Programme. This initiative will train 2,00,000 students and professionals in AI, cybersecurity, cloud, and resilient systems.

The National Institute of Electronics & Information Technology (NIELIT) platform will deliver this initiative, with support from the Kyndryl Foundation.

The Data Security Council of India (DSCI) has partnered with the Kyndryl Foundation. Together, they have launched a new skilling centre in Mumbai. This centre aims to build cybersecurity careers for underserved youth.

Kyndryl also plans to set up offices in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. The aim is to access regional talent and build innovation ecosystems outside metro hubs.

The company will partner with universities and research institutions to launch an early-career programme. This initiative will create new pathways into the tech industry.

Kyndryl currently supports critical tech infrastructure across various Indian industries. Its clients include Bangalore International Airport, Canara Bank, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and the National Stock Exchange.

Kyndryl is focusing its new investment on strategic sectors such as AI, cybersecurity, and hybrid IT modernisation. The company aims to align these efforts with India’s long-term digital transformation goals.
