Amit Shah
Home Minister Amit Shah has fired back at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal following the latter’s remarks suggesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s potential succession plan. Kejriwal, in a press conference following his release from jail, criticized Modi’s age and speculated on Amit Shah’s ascension to the Prime Minister’s office.
Kejriwal hinted at Modi’s upcoming 75th birthday, alluding to the BJP’s retirement rule for individuals aged 75. He questioned whether Modi would step down and pave the way for Shah. However, Shah swiftly refuted these claims, emphasizing that there’s no such age limit mentioned in the BJP’s constitution. He affirmed that Modi will continue leading the country beyond his current tenure.

Shah also addressed Kejriwal’s temporary relief through interim bail, clarifying that it doesn’t absolve him from legal issues, particularly the liquor policy case involving former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia. He highlighted the temporary nature of Kejriwal’s bail, indicating that he must surrender to authorities by June 1.
Kejriwal’s bail conditions restrict him from accessing his office, signing official documents, or visiting the Delhi secretariat without permission from the Lieutenant Governor. Shah concluded by questioning Kejriwal’s legal understanding, suggesting that interim bail doesn’t equate to exoneration.
