Kejriwal Accuses Delhi Police of Theatrics, Faces ED Scrutiny Over Excise Policy Case

Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi CM and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), addressed the recent visit by the Delhi Police crime branch to his residence to serve him notice regarding his claims that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attempted to lure seven AAP legislators with a ₹25 crore offer. Kejriwal accused the Delhi Police, under the Union Home Ministry, of engaging in theatrical actions instead of focusing on crime prevention.

Expressing sympathy for the crime branch officers, Kejriwal emphasized that their role is to combat crime, but the current situation involves unnecessary drama in his social media post. He pointed out the rise in crime in Delhi and criticized the BJP, stating that the political leadership was questioning him about the legislators the BJP allegedly tried to influence. Kejriwal questioned the need for such theatrics, highlighting the history of legislators being poached in various states to topple opposition-led governments.

Take a look:

The crime branch visited Kejriwal’s residence on Saturday morning after failing to serve the notice the previous evening. This time, the notice was successfully delivered. The BJP, in opposition in Delhi, had filed a complaint against Kejriwal and Atishi, a minister in the Delhi government.

These developments coincide with Kejriwal facing scrutiny from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over his alleged involvement in the Delhi excise policy case. Kejriwal, who has refused to appear before the agency, considers the ED summons as ‘illegal.’ Two senior party members, Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, are already in custody related to the excise policy case. Kejriwal and the AAP have characterized the summons as an attempt by the BJP to target him, asserting that the BJP is apprehensive of the chief minister.
